THE BRISBANE Lions have confirmed David Noble as their new general manager of football.

Noble joins the club after spending the past decade with Adelaide as an assistant coach, list manage ,and most recently head of football since 2014.

The 49-year-old will start with the Lions on Monday, with his first job to take his place in the five-person panel to select the club's new senior coach.

Noble joins Lions CEO Greg Swann, list manager Peter Schwab, former club great Simon Black and consultant and psychologist Matti Clements on the panel.

Noble played a significant role in the appointment of Don Pyke and the late Phil Walsh at the Crows.

"David has an outstanding track record and is widely respected across the industry," Swann said.

"The club is going in a new direction and we need the best people to lead that change - David really fits the bill across every criteria.

"He is an elite operator and the professionalism, knowledge and experience he will bring to our football department will be key to our club's revival."

Crows CEO Andrew Fagan praised Noble's dedication and work ethic.

"David has made a valuable contribution and played his part in steering the club through some of its most trying times," Fagan said.

"He is a quality person and we wish him and his family the very best as they take on a fresh challenge."

Fagan said the club saw Noble's departure as a chance to strengthen an already a well-functioning football program.

"We have made significant progress in this area and over the last few years, focused on developing structures and systems which are not reliant on any particular individual," he said.

"As a result, when individuals move on we instead see this an opportunity to further develop and improve our operations as we push towards achieving our goal of having the leading football program in the AFL."
