NORTH Melbourne great Brent Harvey won't be continuing his record-breaking career at Collingwood next year.

Magpies coach Nathan Buckley told Channel 7 on Saturday morning that his club hadn't approached the 38-year-old.

"What I will say about Boomer is he won't be at Collingwood next year," Buckley said.

"I can clarify that out of respect for him.

"He doesn't need that speculation.

"Whether it's there from his management to pump up his value somewhere else, or it's there because it's an interesting link to make, everyone seems to be linked to Collingwood.

"But he won't be there next year."

The Magpies loom as major players when trade week gets underway, having been linked to a host of experienced players.

North Melbourne's Daniel Wells and Nick Dal Santo, Fremantle's Chris Mayne and Greater Western Sydney's Will Hoskin-Elliott are among those who could be heading to Collingwood.

"A couple of those guys we're very interested in and a couple of those guys we're not," Buckley said.

"I can't clarify that right now.

"Wait for trade week, this is Grand Final day."
