JACK Silvagni had some advice for his famous mum after he hobbled from the field during Carlton's loss to Melbourne.

The young forward received a knock from Melbourne defender Tom McDonald in the second term and went straight down the race for treatment.

He returned to the field soon after and got through unscathed.

As he limped off, the MCG television coverage cut to pictures of his mum Jo, a former game show host and weather presenter, who was watching on from the stands with binoculars raised.

"I told her to sack the binoculars, I said they weren't a great look," Jack joked on Tuesday.

"She was a bit worried.

"She said had I been off for another two minutes she probably would have come down to the rooms. I said, 'if you did that, I would have been pretty off you to be honest'."

His message went on: "If I'm walking off I'm fine, if I'm stretchered off then you can come down."
