VETERAN West Coast midfielder Matt Priddis will extend his career into a 13th campaign after inking a one-year contract extension to play on next season.

Priddis' new deal should ensure the durable 32-year-old joins an exclusive club next year when he reaches the 250-game milestone after starting his career on the rookie list.

The 2014 Brownlow medallist has played every game this year and at times been used in a different role in attack with coach Adam Simpson experimenting with the Eagles' centre bounce rotations.

Priddis, who has laid 76 tackles (AFL No.6) and is averaging 26 disposals, is up for the challenge of evolving as West Coast invests in the next generation of onballers.

"We were always making sure, first and foremost, that the body was feeling good," Priddis said of his contract extension.

"Mentally I’m wanting to improve, I am always looking to get better, and I am really pleased to get the contract done at this time of the year.

"There is some good chemistry building in the group; Mitch (Sam Mitchell) has brought a lot to this playing group, so I’m learning a lot from him.

"Also we have got some young guys coming through who are playing great footy – Dom Sheed and Liam Duggan.

"We have a good blend of experience and youth coming through and I am really enjoying that."

Meanwhile, the Eagles have had a mix of good and bad news on the injury front.

Spearhead Josh Kennedy is "improving rapidly" from his calf injury and is pushing to return against Geelong next Thursday, while defender Sharrod Wellingham (ankle) could also be available.

"(Kennedy) wouldn’t be available if we were playing this week, but he has not been ruled out for next week. We’ll give it every chance," football boss Craig Vozzo told westcoasteagles.com.au.

"Sharrod is tracking well, he’s all but in full training and he will be a test."

The Eagles might also regain physical ruckman Scott Lycett, who has been reinstated to the senior list after a long-term shoulder injury.

Lycett got through East Perth's clash unscathed and playing about 75 per cent game time in his first appearance since undergoing surgery in March.

However, exciting goalsneak Willie Rioli's chances of an AFL debut will be delayed by at least a month after another frustrating hamstring setback.

Rioli strained his 'good' left hamstring during a dazzling first half in his second game back from hamstring tendon surgery playing for East Perth on Monday.

"The scans came back more negative than we would have hoped," Vozzo said.

"And given he’s had a previous hamstring injury we will be more conservative and cautious with the injury.

"We were really delighted in what he produced in a half on Monday, and we will be excited to get him back, but we will wait at least a four-week period."

The Eagles also announced that Fraser McInnes has been elevated from the rookie list again after making way for Lycett's return to the senior list earlier this week.
