THE WESTERN Bulldogs will consider Travis Cloke and premiership forward Tory Dickson for next Saturday's clash against Gold Coast in Cairns, with Jake Stringer to be sidelined for a period of time after injuring his hamstring against the Blues on Sunday.

Stringer hurt his left hamstring early in the second term of the Bulldogs' 20-point win over Carlton at the MCG, limping from the ground and not coming back onto the ground thereafter.

Stringer, who has kicked 24 goals in 14 games this season, re-emerged on the bench later in the second term but had ice applied to the back of his left leg and donned a club tracksuit.

"He's injured his hamstring so I couldn't tell you the extent of it," Beveridge said.

"He'll be out for a period of time and as always the MRI will come up and we'll give you the information as soon as we know."

Dickson was one of the Bulldogs VFL team's strongest performers in the club's 62-point win over Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Saturday night.

Dickson handled the footy well in slippery conditions and booted two goals in the win, including a clever dribble goal on the outside of his boot at the start of the second quarter that emphasised his class.

"I thought he played really well against Geelong down there (at Simonds Stadium) and he got some of his spark and spunk back," Beveridge said.

"He had an encouraging performance at VFL level so he'll definitely come into consideration for this week."

Cloke, who last month took an indefinite break from the game to manage some mental health issues, worked hard as a lead up target in the VFL and kicked one goal.

The key forward's goal came when he threaded a beautifully crafted set shot, deep in the left forward pocket that sailed through post high.

"Travis played pretty well," Beveridge said.

"He seemed to enjoy last night… so again he'll be another player we'll consider."

Clay Smith, who was dropped after last week's loss to Adelaide, collected 31 disposals in an encouraging effort for the VFL Bulldogs as he tries to work his way back into the side after going through a dip in form.

"Clay's still developing and evolving as a young player. The maturity of our midfielders is really important from a team perspective and making sure we make the most of certain situations," Beveridge said.

"We'll continue to consider him week to week, but it's a bit early to tell at the moment."
