DANIEL Wells' season is over after the Magpies ruled him out of Saturday's clash against Melbourne because of his persistent quad injury.

It means the big-name recruit will finish with 10 games next to his name for the season after it was interrupted with persistent calf and quad injuries.

When Wells did play however he was impressive, playing crucial roles in several of the Magpies' best performances in 2017.

Collingwood football manager Geoff Walsh told collingwoodfc.com.au the Magpies were keen for him to have a strong pre-season in preparation for 2018 but he would not be seen in action again this season.

"He'll run out of time," Walsh said.

"That quad injury won't allow him to get up for this week."

The Magpies have also put forward Alex Fasolo in cotton wool after he suffered a shoulder injury while Jordan De Goey had hip surgery on Monday and the Magpies expect him to be up and going for pre-season.

In better news, Collingwood midfielder Taylor Adams will play despite copping a couple of heavy knocks against Geelong last week.

"He was a bit fuzzy after the game but he has come up really well," Walsh said.

"He's gone through all the obligatory medical clearances and tests and he'll train [Thursday]."

Adams is one of five Magpies to play every game so far this season.

Defender Tyson Goldsack will also return for the final game after missing last week due to general soreness.
