Trent McKenzie has been delisted by the Suns

SUPERBOOT Trent McKenzie's hopes of an AFL lifeline could rest on Port Adelaide after he was one of four Gold Coast players delisted on Monday.

Fellow foundation Sun Matt Shaw, ruckman Daniel Currie and Mackenzie Willis have also been chopped amid the club's list overhaul.

Twelve players have now departed since the end of the season as Gold Coast enters a new phase under rookie coach Stuart Dew.

McKenzie, 25, played 106 games for the Suns but has been on the outer at Metricon Stadium for the past two seasons and managed just seven games this year.

AFL.com.au reported last week that the Power could give the left-footer, nicknamed 'The Cannon', a second chance as a delisted free agent.

Versatile half-back Shaw, also 25, only made two appearances this year, taking his tally to 102 games since 2011.

Currie played six games for the Suns, battling injury setbacks after being traded from North Melbourne in exchange for pick 41 in 2015.

Willis managed five appearances for the club after being drafted from Kingborough via pick 52 in 2015.

"On behalf of everyone involved with the Gold Coast Suns, we want to thank each of the guys for the contributions they have made to the club," list manager Scott Clayton said.

"We wish them every success and all the very best for the future."

The Suns have now delisted nine players this year, while Ablett (Geelong), Adam Saad (Essendon) and Brandon Matera (Fremantle) were traded.

Lachie Weller (Fremantle), Aaron Young (Port Adelaide) and Harrison Wigg (Adelaide) arrived at Metricon Stadium during the NAB AFL Trade Period.
