WHAT WE ALREADY KNOW  

Round one will kick off when Richmond unfurls its premiership flag against Carlton at the MCG on Thursday, March 22, at the MCG.

Other round one highlights include: Essendon v Adelaide, Etihad Stadium (Friday, March 23), Hawthorn v Collingwood, MCG (Saturday, March 24), Melbourne v Geelong, MCG (Sunday, March 25).

Gold Coast will open its season against North Melbourne at Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns, with the match to be played under lights on Saturday, March 24.

West Coast will open the new Perth Stadium for AFL fans against Sydney in round one on Sunday, March 25. 

Fremantle will get a bonus game at Perth Stadium after winning the rights to host Gold Coast in round three for what will be a 'home' game for the Suns. The Dockers will play 13 games at Perth Stadium as a result.

Melbourne and Richmond will square off in an unprecedented Tuesday night game next season after cementing their Anzac Day eve contest onto the annual football calendar. 

Port Adelaide and Gold Coast will renew hostilities in Shanghai next year, with the clubs confirming they will play in the bustling Chinese city in round nine.

The Demons will play two 'home' games in the Northern Territory, hosting Adelaide at TIO Traeger Park in round 10, and Fremantle at Darwin's TIO Stadium in round 16.
