ZAC Fisher will remain at Carlton until at least the end of 2021 after extending his contract with the club.

The Blues had already signed the small midfielder through to the end of 2020 in the middle of last year, but have added an extra year to his deal.

Fisher has played 22 games for the Blues, including all five so far this season, since joining the club at the 2016 NAB AFL Draft via Western Australia.

He is lightly framed but highly rated within Ikon Park, with a nice turn of pace and good foot skills.

Blues coach Brendon Bolton said the Blues were excited with Fisher's progress.

"In only his second year, Zac still has a fair way to go and we know he will continue to improve, but we've been very impressed by his footy smarts and his ferocity at the ball," Bolton said in a statement.

"He is a terrific young man who has settled in seamlessly at the club, and Zac's contract extension is a reflection on the belief he has in this playing group and the direction they're heading in."
