BRETT Deledio hasn't been guaranteed a return for Sunday's important clash with Port Adelaide, but Greater Western Sydney coach Leon Cameron is happy he has some options at selection after a tough year of injuries.

Deledio hasn't played senior footy since round six after a hamstring strain and then a calf problem halted his best run of form since he arrived at the Giants at the end of the 2016 season.

The veteran made a successful return in the NEAFL last week gathering 32 possessions against Gold Coast on Saturday afternoon, and pulled up well from the match.

Deledio's name will be the major talking point at match committee this week and if he gets through Thursday's main session, he seems all but certain to face the Power.

"Experience is experience and quality is quality," Cameron said on Tuesday.

"Brett's experience is no doubt going to be considered going into such a crucial game against Port Adelaide.

"Going on what he was doing (in games) before he was injured I think that's a lot more in his favour than not, because he was playing some really good footy.

"He's done everything we've asked, now it's just up to us to have the confidence to select him."

The Giants didn't get long to enjoy their thrilling two-point win over Richmond on Saturday night, with Cameron and the players fully aware of where their season sits.

Currently sitting seventh on the ladder just half a game ahead of 10th-placed Hawthorn, GWS will travel to face a Port Adelaide team reeling from an upset loss to Fremantle.

Cameron said as good as round 17 was for his side, it was easy for the Giants to shift their focus to the Power.

"We were really rapt with our win and we understand it keeps us in the hunt for a possible finals appearance, but we're not silly," he said.

"We know that we were beaten by West Coast (in round 16) and we went from sixth the 10th.

"We live in that dangerous part of the ladder hovering around sixth to 10th, if you lose one week you drop out, if you win you might get back in, and we run that gauntlet.

"Our guys know that Port Adelaide have only been beaten once at home this year (by Geelong in round five), and we know that if we don't bring our best footy they'll beat us.

"Port will come back from Perth disappointed in their performance and they'll come out and hit us 100 miles an hour on Sunday."
