PORT Adelaide will give in-demand winger Jared Polec all the time he needs to make the biggest decision of his career.

The 25-year-old has reportedly been offered a five-year deal by North Melbourne worth $3.5 million, while St Kilda, Carlton and Sydney are also interested in his services.

It's believed the Power have a three-year contract on the table.

"When Jared's ready to say I'm staying, that will do," Power coach Ken Hinkley said on Friday.

"Any player this time of the year, when they've got decisions to be made, and quite unique offers by the sound of it, they've got to take time.

"That's a big decision for anyone to deal with, anyone in any job."

Hinkley hasn't given up hope of retaining Polec, who has played 87 games for the Power after starting his career at Brisbane before requesting a trade to return to South Australia.

"We have things in place through Jason (list manager Jason Cripps) and his team to make sure that we don't go outside a structure that works for the whole list, not just for one part of the list," Hinkley said.

"Jared, I'm sure, still wants to be a part of Port Adelaide.

"Clearly, from what I read, from what you people are telling me, he's got a significant offer that he has to consider."

Polec has been in career-best form this season, averaging 25.2 disposals and four inside 50s per game.

"It tells me why, Kangaroos or whoever it is, want to offer him so good money," Hinkley said.

"They're looking at a pretty good player and he's been in bloody good form.

"He'd be in our top two or three in our best and fairest if we look at the season he's put together."

The Power won't be banishing Polec if he tells them he's moving on at the end of the season.

"I have a season to win this year," Hinkley said.

"That's what I'm worried about and that's what I'm focused on.

"I'm trying to win this year, and I need everything available to me this year."
