JARROD Harbrow has been crowned Gold Coast's club champion for the first time.

After finishing second behind two-time winner Tom Lynch in 2016, the dashing defender took out the 2018 award at the Southport Sharks Events Centre on Saturday night.

It came just days after the 30-year-old signed a two-year contract extension.

Harbrow played all 22 games, averaged 22 disposals and was a constant barometer for energy and intensity in a backline that was often under pressure.

The popular Sun, who also became a life member during the season after playing his 150th game for the club, also won the club's community and players' player awards.

Harbrow polled 390 votes to finish in front of Touk Miller (351) and first-year recruit Lachie Weller (336).

In his fourth season, Miller finished in the placings for the first time, reward in a year where he was asked to play a number of different roles.

After making the switch from Fremantle to Gold Coast, Weller got better as the season went on, with particularly strong outings against St Kilda, Collingwood, North Melbourne and in the upset win over Sydney in round 18.

Gold Coast's five-man match committee awarded up to 10 votes each following each match, meaning the maximum number of votes a player could receive for any match was 50.

Alex Sexton won the most improved and Darcy MacPherson the most professional.
