THE clock is ticking for Gold Coast captain Steven May to decide on his future, with the Suns reiterating that a deal would be too hard to complete should he delay his choice further.

May, who is contracted through until the end of 2019, is yet to indicate to Gold Coast that he is seeking a move to Victoria during this month's NAB AFL Trade Period.

That's despite reported interest from Melbourne, Collingwood, Hawthorn and Essendon.

The Demons suggested on Monday that they would be forced to wait on Jesse Hogan's decision regarding whether he wishes to be traded to the Dockers before they could move for May, a prospect the Suns may not entertain should the saga drag on any longer.

"There's no change with Steven," Gold Coast list boss Craig Cameron said.

"He still hasn't asked us for a trade, so we're in a holding pattern there. He's contracted, so we hope he'll be at the club next year.

"I would've thought if it went too much longer, it becomes too hard to do if anything was to happen."

Cameron also reiterated that Gold Coast will not entertain a trade for classy youngster Jack Martin under any scenario this October, despite reported interest from Essendon.

"Jack Martin is a Gold Coast player and he will remain one," Cameron said.
