COLLINGWOOD has upgraded defender Jack Frost to the senior list ahead of its opening clash with Fremantle at Etihad Stadium on Friday night.

It came after first-round draftee Matthew Scharenberg was moved to the long-term injury list after surgery on his feet in February,

As was the case last year, Frost has been elevated to the senior list to compensate for the Magpies' limited tall stocks.

All Australian defender Ben Reid and forward line recruit Jesse White have already been ruled out for the game against the Dockers because of calf complaints.

Frost played the first two games last year, before making way for some experienced talent coming back into the team.

A knee injury in the VFL, not long after, dented his chances of returning.

The Magpies have already elevated veteran Ben Hudson to the senior list in case he is needed as backup to face Dockers goliath Aaron Sandilands.

First-round draftee Matthew Scharenberg, who had surgery on his feet in February, makes way for Frost.
