Friday 18 November
Iroibaiwa to Owers Corner

The players enjoyed a sleep-in in the morning before heading off on their last day on the Kokoda Track.

As the players caught up with the other trekkers who were up and at it early, the group descended to Ua Ule Creek and onto a progressive lengthy ascend up the Imita Ridge.

It was at this point along the track where the Australian Commander who had assumed command asked if he could fall back to Imita Ridge.

He received the approval to fall back; but was told if they did, they would die there.

This was the last withdrawal for the Australian soldiers, as they were closer now to their supporting elements.

The Australians went on to chase the Japanese all the way back to the North Coast.

The final day of the trip was especially emotional as the group reflected on the journey of the Australian soldiers who fought on the Kokoda Track.

After Imita Ridge, the trekkers descended down the 'Golden Stairs' to Uberi and Goldie River, then finally on to Owers Corner, the end of the Kokoda Track.

The group went on to pay a visit to the Bomana Cemetery before heading back to the Crowne Plaza where they unpacked and de-briefed from the campaign before enjoying their first meal at a restaurant in some time.
