Brisbane Lions defender Matt Maguire has been a late withdrawal from the Lions side to take on the Western Bulldogs this afternoon.

Maguire's withdrawal is the result of an ongoing quad complaint that kept him sidelined for the Lions' Round 1 clash against Fremantle last weekend.

"Despite some positive early signs on Thursday which resulted in his selection for today's game, Matt still has some soreness in his quad which we aren't prepared to take a risk on," said Dean Warren, the Club's General Manager of Football Operations.

Maguire has been replaced by Broc McCauley who will make his senior AFL debut after originally being listed as an emergency.

McCauley was elevated from the Lions' rookie list this week to replace Callum Bartlett, who was recently moved to the Club's long-term injury list.
