The AFL is pleased to announce it has confirmed arrangements for the 2022 NAB AFLW Preliminary Final matches which will see games played at the MCG and Adelaide Oval.

The first-ever NAB AFLW match to be played at the MCG will take place at 12:40pm EDT on Saturday, April 2 when Melbourne hosts the winner of this weekend’s Brisbane Lions vs. Collingwood Qualifying Final.

In the second Preliminary Final match, the Adelaide Crows will host Fremantle at Adelaide Oval at 2:40pm EDT / 2:10pm local on Saturday, April 2.

AFL General Manager Women’s Football Nicole Livingstone said she looked forward to the result of this weekend’s Qualifying Final before the attention of footy fans turned to the Preliminary Finals.

“It has been a brilliant season of the 2022 NAB AFLW Competition – we’ve witnessed plenty of fierce competition, outstanding individual performances and some incredible match ups,” Ms Livingstone said.

“We cannot wait for the history-making Preliminary Final match at the MCG – the first time AFLW players get to play at the venue, and equally, a special occasion for supporters who will witness a NAB AFLW match at the ‘G’ for the first time in the competition’s six-year history.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the commitment from everyone across the competition for the role they have played to achieve a ten-round home-and-away season despite the many interruptions we have faced. Despite some of those challenges continuing into the Finals Series, we remain absolutely committed to overcoming them and look forward to awarding a 2022 Premier.

“We acknowledge and commend all those involved in the 2022 NAB AFL Women’s Competition for the role they continue to play this season; Clubs, players and the AFLPA, umpires, venues, governments, ticket agents, supporters and our broadcast and commercial partners.”

The AFL also advises the Round Three men’s match between the GWS GIANTS and Gold Coast SUNS fixtured to be played at 1:10pm AEDT on Saturday, April 2 will be moved to 4:35pm AEDT – this ensures there is no overlap between men’s and women’s games played on that day.

Ticketing arrangements for the Preliminary Finals will be communicated as soon as those arrangements are finalised.

National Australia Bank (NAB)
The AFL would like to acknowledge the naming rights partner for the AFLW Competition, the National Australia Bank (NAB), for providing outstanding support for all levels of women’s football.

NAB has supported the footy community since 2002, providing boys and girls with a clear pathway from NAB AFL Auskick through to the NAB AFL Rising Stars Program all the way to the big time. In the fifth year as principal partner of the AFLW, NAB is proud to once again be supporting the competition in 2022, providing many women the opportunity of playing at the elite level and many girls across the country with something to aspire to.
