EMILY Bates has completed a clean sweep of the AFLW individual honours, taking out the AFLPA Most Valuable Player award.

It caps off a triumphant season for the 26-year-old Brisbane midfielder, who also won the AFLCA champion player of the year and the AFLW best and fairest medal.

In a peer-voted award, Bates polled 286 votes to take first place, ahead of North Melbourne's Ash Riddell (256) and Richmond's Monique Conti (164) back in third.

"When Emily started in the competition, she was already accomplished but perhaps in the shadows of some of the bigger names and Victorian-based midfielders that were in the competition from the get-go," coach Craig Starcevich said.

"Now that she's in her mid-20s, had five or so pre-seasons, played 53 games – she's now got real status in the comp. I think the awards that she's getting this season are now starting to cement her right at the top, which is fantastic for her."

Popular Western Bulldogs midfielder Kirsty Lamb broke Chelsea Randall's stronghold on the Most Courageous award ahead of Jaimee Lambert and Tahlia Randall.

Melbourne's Daisy Pearce was named Best Captain for a fourth time in her five seasons, with Hayley Miller and Ellie Blackburn rounding out the top three.

Best First Year player – which unlike the NAB AFLW Rising Star, does not have an age limit – was taken out by No.1 draft pick Charlie Rowbottom, who won from Georgie Prespakis and Eliza West.

The awards (aside from best captain) are a two-step process – players vote for three teammates, with a shortlist for each club then created.

Players then vote 3-2-1 across the competition, and cannot vote for their teammates in the second stage.
