CROSS-CODE sisters Maddi and Teagan Levi have been ruled out of a second consecutive AFLW season due to their rugby commitments.

The Suns duo are currently focusing on rugby, with the Commonwealth Games to be held in August. Collingwood’s Ash Brazill has recently been named in the national netball squad for Birmingham.

The club has been in continual contact with the pair since they were offered full-time rugby contracts – based in Sydney – in October last year and they will remain on the inactive list.

Maddi is an explosive forward who played eight games in her debut season, while midfielder Teagan is yet to take to the AFLW field after her selection with pick No.6 in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft.

"While we would love to have Maddi and Teagan back in the red and gold this season, we’re fully understanding of their desire to represent Australia in upcoming competitions later this year," Suns head of women's footy Fiona Sessarago said.

"We remain in constant communication with both Maddi and Teagan and hope to see them return to the Suns in the future.

"In the meantime, we look forward to cheering them on when they represent Australia."
