STAR Adelaide midfielder Ebony Marinoff has been crowned womens.afl's AFLW player of the season.

Marinoff polled 20 votes across her 10 matches this season, to finish one ahead of AFLCA player of the year Emily Bates, with North Melbourne ball-magnet Ash Riddell one vote further behind in third.

At the conclusion of each match, the reporter assigned to the game awards their 3-2-1 to the players they judge best afield.

At the halfway mark of the season, Marinoff was sitting pretty in equal-second alongside Bates, with the pair having incredibly consistent seasons.

Kiara Bowers was leading at the end of round five, but only played one more game as suspension and injury hit.

Kangaroos match-winner Jasmine Garner wasn't in the top 14 players at the halfway mark, but stormed home with a series of strong performances to poll 12 votes.
