AFTER starting the AFLW Sign and Trading Period with a splash by signing key forward Katie Brennan from the Western Bulldogs, Richmond rounded out the first week of activity by adding three more players from other clubs: defenders Phoebe Monahan (Greater Western Sydney, picture above) and Iilish Ross (Collingwood) and midfielder Maddy Brancatisano (Melbourne).
West Coast has signed a further four players, headlined by West Australian and former GWS midfielder Emma Swanson.
Swanson, who played just two games this year after injuring her left shoulder sliding into a goalpost, will be joined by ex-Dockers Ashlee Atkins, Brianna Green and Courtney Guard (nee Stubbs).
Green was on Fremantle's list but didn't play this year, recovering from a knee reconstruction, but is aiming to return to WAWFL side East Fremantle this winter.
Gold Coast locked in midfielder Paige Parker from Brisbane to a two-year contract.
The 23-year-old Parker, who will play for Australia in the Touch Football World Cup in Kuala Lumpur this month, played four matches for the Lions this season.
St Kilda added veteran ruck Rhiannon Watt from Carlton. Watt has previously played for the Saints’ VFLW affiliate.
"Rhiannon is such an important person when I think about factors that will build the culture of this team," said Peta Searle, St Kilda’s head of women’s football.
"She’s shown that she’s talented on field, and her year in the AFLW competition will only have added to that, but her team spirit and the importance she places on bringing up those around her is such an asset."
The Western Bulldogs re-signed ruck Celine Moody and forward Aisling McCarthy would be back at the club next season.
Carlton confirmed Shae Audley, Kirby Bentley, Reni Hicks and Bridie Kennedy have been delisted. Audley played every game in 2017 and 2018, but struggled to break through this year, the midfielder managing two matches.
