FORMER Lion Sabrina Frederick is now officially a Tiger, as Richmond continues to put together a fearsome forward line ahead of its entry to the AFLW in 2020.

The Tigers traded their first-round draft selection (currently pick 12) to the Lions for Frederick (formerly Frederick-Traub), who played 23 games for the club over three years and is moving to Victoria to be near her fiancée's family.

She will join ex-Bulldogs skipper Katie Brennan and 2018 All Australian Christina Bernardi (moving back to Victoria from Greater Western Sydney) up forward at Richmond.

It was just one move in a bumper day of signings and recruits, with the first portion of the trade period closing on Thursday, before a second (without expansion signings) runs from Tuesday to Friday next week.

Brisbane has been hit from pillar to post this expansion period, losing a seventh player to Gold Coast in rebounding defender Emma Pittman, but received some good news in the form of Sophie Conway.

The classy 20-year-old forward has signed a two-season deal with the Lions after missing the 2019 season with a left knee reconstruction.

Melbourne has re-signed senior players Meg Downie and Bianca Jakobsson, taking its list to 20.

Following Monday's announcement of seven signings, North Melbourne has retained another four players, with young defensive trio Jasmine Grierson, Danielle Hardiman and Tahlia Randall signing two-season deals.

Small forward Daisy Bateman has also been retained for the 2020 season.

West Coast has added a further three players to its list ahead of its entry in 2020.

Fremantle ruck Parris Laurie has returned to the Eagles, where she was an academy player before being drafted last year. She has been joined by Western Bulldogs midfielder Belinda Smith, who is returning home to Western Australia, and Giants flanker Maddy Collier.

Collingwood has been steadily signing players throughout the two-week period, and on Tuesday retained forwards Sarah D'Arcy and Katie Lynch, mids Sophie Casey and Maddie Shevlin and defender Georgia Gourlay.

In other news around the clubs:

  • Talks are gradually progressing in the trade deal to get Western Bulldog Libby Birch to Melbourne. The Dees are hopeful to have it finalised before Easter, but it could push to the second trade period, after the updated draft order has been released on April 23
  • Geelong has not announced any player signings yet but will do so in one hit later next week. The Cats will retain the majority of their list
  • Carlton will release its signings on Wednesday, with players' holidays having held up proceedings somewhat
  • Greater Western Sydney will also release its signings in the next 48 hours
  • The trade deal to get Brianna Davey from Carlton to Collingwood is looking to be incredibly difficult, given her worth as a player and what Collingwood has to offer. It will likely head to next week's second trade period
