2019 in a nutshell: The Demons finished with four wins and three losses and finished one spot off the bottom in Conference A, even though their record was level with top-placed Carlton in Conference B and with a better percentage. The four-point loss to Fremantle in round one ended up being the loss that cost the Dees a finals spot.

2020 prediction: With games against three expansion teams and one against the rebuilding Bulldogs, the Demons have a draw that's fairly favourable. Fremantle away will be a tough game, but Melbourne should come in to every game with the mentality that it can win. The Demons can be a finals contender.
