The country’s most promising 15-and-under Indigenous and Multicultural girls footballers have been selected in the AFL’s 2026 Woomeras and Medleys programs.
The Woomeras squad features Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, with the Medleys squad comprising players with at least one parent born outside Australia.
The programs bring talented young footballers into an elite environment and prepare them for potential entry into other programs in the AFL Talent Pathway, including the 2027 AFL Indigenous and Multicultural Academies.
The Woomeras and Medleys squads will come together in Queensland this weekend for a three-day high-performance camp.
Players will engage in various football training sessions, cultural immersions and wellbeing and education sessions.
The camp will conclude with a talent showcase match at Brighton Homes Arena on Sunday, June 28, where the Woomeras and Medleys sides will go head-to-head.
The match will commence at 12:30pm and will be played following the Marsh AFL National Championships – U18 Girls match between Queensland and Victoria Country.
Players in the Woomeras and Medleys squads will be mentored by a host of experienced coaches and current football stars, many who have previously taken part in each program.
2023 VFLW best and fairest Jordy Mifsud has been appointed head coach of the Woomeras and will be supported by AFLW stars Courtney Hodder and Kaitlyn Ashmore.
The Medleys will be led by Laura Frazer as head coach, with assistance from Gold Coast Suns captain Lucy Single, Western Bulldogs speedster Elaine Grigg and former VFLW player Angelena Roan.

WOOMERAS v MEDLEYS
AFL Diversity Talent Programs Manager, Narelle Long, said: “We’re thrilled to provide the opportunity for our promising young athletes to take part in the Woomeras and Medleys programs and look forward to working with them throughout this weekend’s high-performance camp.
“The Woomeras and Medleys programs provide an entry into an elite football program and offer a great development opportunity for the future stars of our game as they begin their journey through the AFL Talent Pathway.
“Players will take part in football sessions taught by expert coaches that will further develop their football skills, which they’ll be able to put into practice during Sunday’s talent showcase game.”
