WEST Coast AFLW coach Daisy Pearce has re-signed for another two years, thanking the club for its "patience and guidance" as she worked through the decision to stay on in the role.
Pearce was installed as Eagles coach in late 2023, and moved to Western Australia with her young family ahead of the 2024 season.
Scheduled to come out of contract at the end of the current season, the new deal will see her remain at the helm until the end of the 2028 season.
Pearce’ re-signing takes her out of the pool of options for Tasmania's inaugural AFLW coach, with the Devils expected to enter the competition in the 2028 season.
"On a personal level I'm really grateful for the support the club has given me and my family over the past three years, their belief in me as a coach and more recently their understanding while we worked through a big decision to continue on in WA," Pearce said in a statement released on Friday.
"I would like to thank [Eagles CEO] Don (Pyke), [women's footy boss] Michelle (Cowan), [club head of football] 'Woosh' (John Worsfold) and our coaching staff for their patience and guidance.
"The club has shown a genuine investment in our AFLW program, there are hardworking people here who are driven to succeed and it makes me really optimistic about where this team is headed.Â
"To have another two years to go to work with our players and to do anything I can to help them develop is exciting. It's a real privilege that West Coast see me as the right person to do it.
"I am glad to have this locked away and look forward to the rest of our season, three big challenges that will give us a great opportunity to keep testing ourselves against the best."
The Eagles acknowledged the sacrifices Pearce had made to make the move west.
"It was a significant move for Daisy and her partner Ben to bring their young family to WA, and we know there is still plenty to achieve with her leading our AFLW program," Pyke said.
"In a short period of time, she has built strong relationships across the club, while fostering a high-performance culture and demanding elite standards to keep driving our team forward.
"We couldn't be more pleased that she will remain senior coach at West Coast for a further two years and look forward to an exciting future together."
After a winless first month of the season, the Eagles have stabilised enough to remain in the hunt for finals for a second year in a row.
A premiership captain with Melbourne, Pearce will coach against her former mentor Mick Stinear on Saturday when the Eagles face Geelong.
