ADELAIDE has given North Melbourne a run for its money, with the Crows leading the Kangaroos by one point at three-quarter time before being overrun late at North Hobart Oval to ultimately go down by nine points.

After conceding the first two goals of the game, the Crows kept North goalless in the second term before making the most of the scrappy and wet conditions to lead by three points at half time.

The Roos' stars lifted in the final term to overrun the Crows 5.8 (38) to 4.5 (29).

Captain Jasmine Garner and ball magnet Ash Riddell had 32 disposals apiece, while Erika O'Shea had 26 and 16 intercepts.

Crows Ebony Marinoff (30 disposals) and Chloe Bown (22) were busy and Christina Leuzzi kicked two goals.

North powerhouse Vikki Wall kicked crucial goals in the third and fourth quarter, including the sealer after Tahlia Randall had restored the Kangaroos' lead.

"They're such an unbelievable side and they're fighting for their place in finals so we knew that it was going to be a tough game, which it was," Wall said.

Another strong showing from Garner
Jasmine Garner is sitting at the top of AFL.com.au's AFLW Best and Fairest Award predictor, and is likely to have picked up another three-vote game after her performance against Adelaide. Garner racked up 32 disposals, six clearances, five tackles, and 682 metres gained and was instrumental in the final term when the Roos broke away from the Crows. Garner has historically been under-appreciated during the W Awards vote, but could this be the year that finally changes?

Wall's milestone match
Vikki Wall brought up her 50th AFLW match in fine fashion, booting two goals against the Crows, including one from a near-impossible angle on the run. With her father over from Ireland for the occasion, Wall was right at home in the wet Hobart conditions, joking post-game that her dad had brought a few extra raincoats to the game to share around.
