BRITT Gibson's season is in doubt after undergoing surgery on her hamstring, sidelining the North Melbourne utility for up to three months.

Gibson, 28, suffered a high-grade tendon injury at training last Thursday, and had previous injury troubles with the area early in pre-season.

AFLW TEAM OF THE WEEK Round one

Up until last weekend, the durable Gibson had not missed an AFLW game since the competition's beginnings, playing 14 for Brisbane and another 16 for North Melbourne upon moving south in 2019.

"It’s a really disappointing result for Britt who has been working really hard to get back to full fitness," North Melbourne AFLW footy operations manager Nathan Hrovat said.

"We expect her rehabilitation to be around 10 to 12 weeks.

"We will ensure she ticks all the right boxes and hope to have her back as soon as possible, as her experience and skills are invaluable to the team."

DREAM STREAM How to catch every AFLW match in 2021

As it stands, the AFLW season is set to be a nine-round affair with three weeks of finals, should the Kangaroos make it all the way to the decider.

The bullocking Gibson's versatility across all three lines has made her quite the "fix-it" player, often moved into different roles mid-match as the need arises.

The Roos are hoping Jess Duffin (adductor) and recruit Grace Campbell (leg) are available for selection against St Kilda this weekend, after missing the round one demolition of Geelong.
