ANOTHER Burke will be in St Kilda colours in 2022, with Lucy added to the Saints' AFLW list in place of injured rookie Paige Price.

However, Lucy is no relation to club legend Nathan (now coaching Western Bulldogs) and daughter Alice (coming into her second season), having joined the team through the club's VFLW side, Southern Saints.

Former US college basketballer Price was taking part in her first pre-season, but has undergone hip surgery which has ruled her out for the season.

It's another injury blow to the Saints, who on Saturday lost young gun Tyanna Smith to a torn ACL.

Dual best and fairest Georgia Patrikios remains on personal leave from the club.

Burke, 23, played all 16 games for the Saints in the 2021 VFLW season, named at centre half-back in the VFLW team of the year.

"We’re thrilled to welcome Lucy to St Kilda," Saints head of women's footy Tessie McManus said.

"Lucy isn’t a stranger to majority of our list having played for the Southern Saints this season, and despite her limited preparation, we believe she’ll slot right in.

"We’re confident Lucy will be a great asset to the club, particularly coming off half-back where she can complement the likes of Hannah Priest and Tilly Lucas-Rodd.

"While it’s unfortunate to lose Paige to injury, we will continue to support her as she completes her rehabilitation."

The Saints are yet to confirm a replacement for Smith, and have up until the eve of the season (January 7) to make the decision.
