ADELAIDE will take a cautious approach with skipper Chelsea Randall and All-Australian midfielder Anne Hatchard ahead of its battle with fellow undefeated side Melbourne.

Randall (hamstring) missed the round three win over West Coast, while Hatchard didn't finish that match due to a "minor plantar fasciitis flare-up".

Both will require to pass tests to play, with the Crows camp saying Randall had trained particularly strongly.

The Western Bulldogs will be playing their first match in two weeks after a COVID-19 outbreak hit the team hard, and have a number of players who missed round one now available.

The backline will be significantly boosted the return of by Katie Lynch (quad), Sarah Hartwig (AFL health and safety protocols in round one) and Bailey Hunt.

Fellow defender Ellyse Gamble (ankle) is 1-2 weeks away, while Hannah Scott (quad) and Deanna Berry (ACL) are 4-5 weeks from returning.

Melbourne will be welcoming the return of Lily Mithen and Maddi Gay from AFL health and safety protocols, while recruit Liv Purcell is set to be sidelined for a further 3-5 weeks in her return from a torn ACL.

Brisbane is yet to confirm the extent of Taylor Smith's ankle injury suffered in Tuesday night's win, but coach Craig Starcevich was hopeful it was a "garden variety rolled ankle" in his post-match presser.

Starcevich also said Dakota Davidson (foot) had trained strongly this week, and that Sophie Conway was due to exit AFL health and safety protocols on Wednesday after recording a negative test.

Tarni Evans has turned the corner in her navicular stress fracture, but the Giants will be very careful with her training load, and are hoping to see her play at the back end of the season.

Bec Beeson is around two weeks away with her ankle injury.

Talented Gold Coast midfielder Jacqui Yorston is closing in on her long-awaited return from a torn ACL, and is a test for this week.

Tori Groves-Little provided a much-needed spark in Gold Coast's breakthrough win, but they suffered a concussion at training and will miss at least round four, while Claudia Whitfort is available after her round two concussion.

The key position stocks of Richmond have been hit hard, with Harriet Cordner earlier this week ruled out for the season with a torn ACL.

Tall forward Courtney Wakefield (shoulder), ruck Poppy Kelly (knee) and star midfielder Ellie McKenzie remain "medium-term" propositions, which is roughly around 3-5 weeks.

The Saints will give bullocking midfielder Nat Exon (lower leg) every chance to play this week, after sitting out last round's loss to Melbourne.

Fremantle full-back Janelle Cuthbertston will miss at least another week with concussion, while fellow defender Philipa Seth has now undergone surgery on a syndesmosis injury.
