COLLINGWOOD young gun Sam Swadling has earned a Telstra AFL Rising Star nomination after his heroics in the draw with Hawthorn on Saturday night.

Swadling had 29 disposals, seven marks, seven intercept possessions and 660 metres gained as the Pies and Hawks drew again at the MCG.

And the 19-year-old produced the pivotal play of the game on the siren to rescue a draw for the Pies.

As Dylan Moore kicked at goal needing any score to win the game for the Hawks, it was Swadling who knocked his kick back into play.

The No.37 pick in last year's draft, Swadling has made a strong start to his AFL career.

He made his debut in round 15, with Saturday's performance his best yet seven games into his AFL career.
