PLAYER tracking data is the AFL's next frontier.

The technology is already being used in overseas sports to heighten coaches' and players' tactical nous and prepare better for opposition teams.

The AFL already used it to analyse the impact the 6-6-6 starting positions have had on the game this year.

Robertson discusses the difficulties in implementing player tracking data in Australian football, and gives his view on where Australia is in front of its overseas sports rivals.
