MELBOURNE women's coach Michelle Cowan has added a history-making win to her resume, leading her side to a 32-point win over the Western Bulldogs at the MCG.

In an historic match, the Demons took control in the second quarter, thanks to impressive performances by Daisy Pearce and Chelsea Randall.

Pearce was crowned best afield, collecting 28 possessions, showcasing just why she was drafted at pick number one, andearning the praise of Cowan.

"All 24 girls came out to play today, and really represented the game well," Cowan told AFL.com.au.

"Daisy Pearce and Chelsea Randall were an absolute spectacle, just taking some big grabs, and putting their bodies on the line, exactly like the guys do."

Cowan said the team's win on the big stage was the pinnacle of her coaching career to date.

"Absolutely. This would be the highlight of my whole coaching career, most definitely. I'm looking to take it to take it further in the future."

Already a trailblazer, Cowan is now hoping to take her coaching skills to the top, hopefully with a job in the AFL.

"I really love my role at South Fremantle Football Club, but should an opportunity come up and I'm the right person for it at an AFL level, I'd snap that up for sure.

"All I say is, give me a chance to have an interview, and then I can prove myself through that. And don't employ me because I'm female or my gender. Employ me because I'm the right person for the job."
