GEELONG has announced a number of initiatives to raise money for former Cats VFL player Casey Tutungi, who was recently diagnosed as a quadriplegic after an accident during a local football match.

The fundraising drive will begin on Friday night, with the club pledging to donate the gate receipts from its VFL match against Collingwood at Simonds Stadium to the Casey Tutungi Future Fund.

A good crowd is expected to watch the game, in which Paul Chapman is set to make his long-awaited comeback from a hamstring injury.

It will be Geelong's last VFL match at Simonds Stadium for the season.

Further fundraising efforts, this time focusing on local footy, will take place on the weekend of July 27-28.

The competitions around the Barwon region, including the Geelong league, Bellarine league, Geelong and District league and Colac and District league, have pledged to support a "Coming together for Casey" round.

Clubs in those competitions will contribute to the Casey Tutungi Future Fund by holding functions and encouraging their players and members to make donations.

Other clubs across the nation are also being urged to support the cause.

The 10 clubs that raise the most money across the weekend of July 27-28 will go into a draw to become an AFL club for a day during their 2014 pre-season.

The Cats have agreed to allow the winning club to bring 46 players to Simonds Stadium for a training session on the ground, which will be conducted by Chris Scott and his coaching staff.

The visiting players will also be given lunch prepared by the club's chef, Adrian Millman, the use of the Cats' gym and recovery facilities and a full set of Geelong training jumpers to use on the day and then keep.

Geelong will announce a number of other fundraising plans in the coming weeks.
