TOP TASMANIAN talent Matilda Lange and Talent League best-and-fairest winner Peggy Rock headline the 2027 Marsh AFL National Academy Girls squad.

Lange tore up the 2026 Marsh AFL National Under-18 Girls Championships playing as a bottom-ager for the Allies, winning the side’s MVP award – the only bottom-ager to do so – and will be priority No.1 for Tasmania as it enters the Telstra AFLW Draft in 2027.

AFLW DRAFT Get to know the next wave of talent

Twenty-five teenagers from across the country have been selected, hopeful to follow in the steps of top 2026 draft prospects Bailee Martin, Majella Day, Charlotte Tidemann, and Emma Charlton.

Two inclusions – Scarlett Bown and Asia Single – are looking to emulate the path of older sisters Chloe (Adelaide) and Lucy (Gold Coast), and a host of other names have been floating around as top performers of their respective state league teams in recent years.

Hannah Seaborn has been a regular high performer for Claremont in the WAFLW, as have Lani Cocks and Maia Freemantle for Norwood and Woodville-West Torrens respectively in the SANFLW.

The northern academies are also strongly represented in the squad. Emma McCallum and Lolita Savala are part of the Swans' Academy, Evie Henley from the Greater Western Sydney Academy, Ameleia Murray and Indiana Scheffler from the Lions' Academy, and Single and Tara Nieass out of Gold Coast's program.

Notably, bidding rules have been adjusted heading into next year's draft, so clubs will need greater draft capital to ensure their Academy products remain within the club.

The squad will kick things off with a high performance camp and the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport from December 8-13, and will enjoy two camps throughout 2027 in April and June, in which they will play exhibition matches against an All-Stars team.
