BRISBANE, Fremantle, Gold Coast and GWS have confirmed all their AFLW players will meet the AFL's "second stage" deadline of a first dose by November 19.

This will allow players to be fully dosed ahead of practice matches on the weekend of December 18-19.

West Coast was contacted for confirmation but had not yet provided a response by Friday evening.

Adelaide's Deni Varnhagan, who is a qualified nurse outside of football, has been moved to the inactive list as a consequence of her refusal to receive the COVID-19 vaccination, but the rest of the Crows' W list has had at least dose.

All Victorian clubs had previously confirmed their players had received at least one vaccination by their state government deadline of October 22, with St Kilda opting not to disclose the vaccination status of its players due to medical privacy.

When contacted on Friday, the Saints were unable to provide an update on dual best-and-fairest winner Georgia Patrikios, who has taken a leave of absence from the club.

As revealed by womens.afl in October, St Kilda would not confirm if her absence was due to the AFL’s new COVID-19 vaccination policy.

While match-ups for practice games are yet to be determined, clubs believe travel will be minimal, with teams to play against each other in their own state (e.g. Fremantle v West Coast, Victorian clubs to play each other).

At this stage, GWS and Adelaide is looking like the only cross-state pairing, if borders allow.

Vaccination policy:

• The First Stage is already in effect in Victoria by virtue of the Government’s Authorised Worker Vaccination Mandate and requires Players and Football Program Staff of Victorian Clubs to be vaccinated (first dose 22 October 2021 and fully vaccinated 26 November 2021) prior to being able to attend their Clubs to start or continue their pre-seasons.
• The Second Stage applies to all remaining AFLW Players and AFL Football Program Staff, and additionally the AFL Players and AFL Football Program Staff of the NSW Clubs, namely the Sydney Swans and Greater Western Sydney. This stage requires first vaccination dose by 19 November 2021 and to be fully vaccinated by 17 December 2021, in advance of likely scheduled practice matches and the AFLW season commencing in January 2022.
