Womens.afl understands St Kilda has contacted the AFL about the extra seconds, which occurred when Tarni White had a shot for goal after a free kick with 1:42 remaining in the fourth quarter.

The Saints were content with the answer they received from the AFL about the incident.

The umpire accidentally did not signal for time on after setting the mark, and timekeepers are unable to start the clock until the umpire makes the call, a situation that can occur throughout the game due to human error.

Katherine Smith ultimately won the match for GWS with a steady goal on the back of a 50m penalty, a contentious decision called against Kate Shierlaw for throwing Alyce Parker to the ground after the pair had been blocking each other's run.
