RODNEY EADE TIMELINE

1976 - Makes his debut with Hawthorn and plays in the premiership

1978 - Plays in his second flag

1983 - Part of the Hawthorn team that defeats Essendon in the Grand Final

1986 - Plays in his fourth premiership team

1988 - Joins the Brisbane Bears as a player

1990 - Retires from the Bears

1991 - Coaches the Bears reserves to an unlikely premiership at Waverley Park

1992 - Appointed assistant coach at North Melbourne under Wayne Schimmelbusch and then Denis Pagan.

1994 - Unsuccessfully applies for the Hawthorn senior coaching role that went to former teammate Peter Knights.

1995 - Coaches North Melbourne to the reserves premiership before leaving to take over from Ron Barassi as senior coach of the Sydney Swans.

1996 - Coaches the Swans to a Grand Final in his first year at the helm. The Swans lose to North Melbourne.

2000 - Becomes the longest-serving coach in the history of the Swans, surpassing Ian Stewart.

2002 - Clashes with Swans officials over the decision to re-recruit Tony Lockett. Is sacked mid-way through the year and replaced by assistant Paul Roos.

2004 - After two seasons in the media, Eade chooses not to apply to coach Hawthorn and accepts the job as senior coach of the Western Bulldogs, taking over from Peter Rohde.

2006 - Takes the Bulldogs to sixth position and at the end of the year trades for controversial former Lion Jason Akermanis. Eade signs a contract extension tying him to the end of 2009.

2008 - The Bulldogs play the first of three consecutive preliminary finals.

2009 - Eade leads the chase for former Swan Barry Hall and signs him. Eade signs another two-year contract extension tying him to the end of 2011.

2010 - Akermanis leaves the Bulldogs in acrimonious circumstances after falling out with club officials and players.

2011 - With coaching vacancies at Melbourne and Adelaide, it is reported Eade's manager Phil Mullen wants Bulldog chiefs to fast-track their decision about his future.

2011
- Coaches his 300th AFL game and becomes the second longest serving coach in Bulldogs history. With the club out of the finals' race, Eade is told his services are not required beyond this season.
