Sadly the Season ended one week prematurely for the Bulldogs again this year. However, it was against the odds and the critics that we made it as far as we did and finishing in the top four in such an even competition is nothing to be scoffed at despite the fact we had worked hard to take things a step further.

The Preliminary Final also saw very strong and promising performances from some of the teams’ young, developing players in Jarrad Grant, Dylan Addison, Liam Picken and Callan Ward to name a few. All of these players threw themselves into the battle against St Kilda, giving everything they had. So with these young guns the future remains bright for the Bulldogs and we think with these and other young recruits showing more and more promise with every game, that next year we will still pose a challenge to the leagues’ form teams.

Sadly the end of 2010 has already marked the end to several players time at the Club with both Brad Johnson and Nathan Eagleton announcing their retirement and young Jarrod Harbrow signing with the Gold Coast. As well as this we received news that Senior Assistant Coach Leon Cameron would move across town to coach at Hawthorn, which is a significant loss for the Western Bulldogs Football Department. However, despite these sad developments we wish all of these highly regarded men the best in their future endeavours.

Johnno’s departure has also raised talk of who will take on the role as Captain in 2011. There are various names being thrown into the mix and it seems hard man Matthew Boyd is a crowd favourite due to his dedication and on-field consistency. I guess we will just have to wait and see who the coaching staff believes will be best suited to the ultimate leadership role.

Already there has been speculation and talk surrounding the trade and draft period and it is expected the Bulldogs will be quite active during this period which should excite all Bulldogs fans as while we already have a very strong playing squad, it will be exciting to see who else will join the Mighty Red, White and Blue in 2011 and beyond.
