CASEY Demons full-forward Mitch Brown became the third active player to reach 150 VFL goals during his team’s comfortable victory over Southport last Sunday.

Brown booted six goals, including four in the first quarter, with the third of those bringing up the milestone that see him join Box Hill’s Ben Cavarra (last week) and Sandringham’s Sam Dunell in what is an exclusive group in today’s era of players not having long VFL careers.

The Demons’ win over the Sharks was the 200th home victory in their history, achieved in just 317 matches at an impressive strike rate of 63 per cent, taking in both Casey Fields and Newcomen Road as Casey and Springvale.

Sydney’s Robbie Fox (NEAFL/VFL) and Werribee’s Reuben William (VFL) played their 50th matches in the competition at Avalon Airport Oval last Saturday, although William also has 37 NEAFL games to his credit with the Brisbane Lions and is closing in on 100 State league games, while Swan Joel Amartey (NEAFL/VFL) and Williamstown’s Joel Ottavi each reached 50 goals.

Other significant milestones in Round 7 were Port Melbourne losing its 200th match in a VFL era that now comprises 499 matches, Geelong defeating North Melbourne at Arden St for the first time in 134 years, Box Hill Hawks recording their highest score and biggest win against Essendon and Werribee kicking its lowest ever score at Chirnside Park, while Carlton's Ben Crocker took the outright lead in the Frosty Miller Medal race.
