THE LAST remaining uncontracted AFLW coaches are set to be taken off the market, with Hawthorn's Daniel Webster and Carlton's Mathew Buck both closing on extensions.
Webster and Buck had both recently attracted attention around the competition as their contract situations dragged on, though it's understood the pair are in the final stages of negotiations on new deals beyond this season.
They are the last remaining unsigned coaches in the AFLW competition, after the wanted duo in Brisbane's Craig Starcevich (2029) and West Coast's Daisy Pearce (2028) both re-signed in recent weeks.
Starcevich and Pearce had both had been courted by new expansion side Tasmania as it looks to lock away its inaugural AFLW coach by Christmas, with the Devils one of four women's programs on the lookout for a new coach.
St Kilda's Nick Dal Santo and Essendon's Natalie Wood had both entered 2026 uncontracted, with neither offered new deals, while Collingwood's Sam Wright opted to step aside last week despite a contract for 2027.
All three sides had long since plummeted out of the AFLW finals race, with the Saints and Magpies both enduring 1-11 seasons and with the Bombers managing only two wins for the campaign.
All three existing sides have already begun scouring the market for potential new coaches with Williamstown VFLW senior coach Paul Groves, Sydney assistant Tanya Hetherington and Greater Western Sydney assistant Emma Zielke among those tipped to be in the frame for roles around the League.
Webster and Buck's impending new deals are both likely to arrive amid finals campaigns for the pair, with Hawthorn sneaking into the top eight last weekend and with Carlton securing a top four finish and double chance.
