HAWTHORN has opted to play tonight’s JLT Community Series match against Carlton in Launceston with a reduced squad as it looks to squeeze the most out of its final pre-season hit-out.
The Hawks omitted James Cousins, Tim O’Brien and Marc Pittonet from the final squad, going in with only 23 players while the Blues will start unchanged from the selected 26-man squad.
Premiership defender James Frawley is back in the fold for the Hawks but fan favourite Cyril Rioli remains on the sidelines, as does reliable midfielder Liam Shiels who pulled up sore following training earlier in the week.
The Blues have selected star youngsters Jacob Weitering and Sam Petrevski-Seton, while highly rated draftee Paddy Dow will be looking for a repeat of his impressive debut performance against St Kilda earlier in the JLT Series.
