BALFOURS remained proud sponsor of Showdown 30 on Saturday 16th April 2011.
The Port Adelaide Football Club would like to acknowledge their long standing commitment to South Australian Football. Balfours understand the keen rivalry and passion involved in Showdown matches, making sure each and every Showdown is a premium experience for the fans, just like the Balfours premium pie and pasty range.
Balfours Showdown 30 kicked off with the Captain’s press conference on Monday April 11th at the Balfours Café at City Cross Arcade. Port Adelaide captain Dom Cassisi and Adelaide Crows captain Nathan Van Berlo spoke to media and engaged with fans.
The players returned to City Cross Arcade the following day (Tuesday April 12th) for the Balfours Showdown Quiz. Port Adelaide players Tom Logan and Dean Brogan competed against Adelaide Crows’ Richard Douglas and David MacKay. Both groups were teamed up with four members of the general public and the event was hosted by Port Adelaide champion Tim Ginever. Balfours Pie Man and Frog Cake mascots entertained the lunchtime crowd before Brogan and Douglas answered the media’s questions.
On Friday April 15th, the coach’s press conference took place at the Phoenix Society - Torrensville Facility. Port Adelaide coach Matthew Primus and Adelaide coach Neil Craig spoke to media and Balfours Showdown donuts were given to staff.
Showdown 30 kicked off on Saturday night with Facebook promotion winner Aron Baker tossing the coin. Aron won the opportunity simply by ‘liking’ the Balfours Bakery page on Facebook. Ten double passes were also given to runners up in the week leading up to the Showdown.
Balfours exposure on the night included branding at Port Adelaide’s Before The Bounce event, LED signage and the Balfours Pie Man and Frog Cake mascots teaming up with the Club’s own mascot, Thunda. Balfours backpacks were also given away on the night following purchase of Balfours products around the ground.
Following the game, the Balfours Showdown 30 Trophy and Best On Ground presentation took place. The Best On Ground Medal was presented on the field by Starlight mascot Jonathon Annells. 11-year-old Jonathon made a wish to present the medal to winner, Port Adelaide’s Justin Westhoff.
