Hayden was the Kangaroos' third pick in last year's draft – No.62 overall – and spent his first season playing 14 games in the VFL after overcoming pre-season shoulder surgery.

"Kyron has another year left on his contract and nothing will really change for him other than him being listed as a rookie in 2019," North general manager of football Cameron Joyce said.

"It doesn't preclude him from playing senior football and his contract remains as is."

The Kangaroos currently have selections 42, 47, 48, 49, 55, 58 and 86 in the national draft.
