ST KILDA’S last remaining link to the Ross Lyon era has been severed with the position of football operations manager Greg Hutchison made redundant.

A club spokesman confirmed to AFL.com.au on Friday night that Hutchison had been told his role no longer existed.

He packed up his office and departed the club on Friday.

Hutchison’s former duties will be re-distributed throughout the football department, which will be run by head of football Chris Pelchen.

Hutchison started in the role at St Kilda in October 2008 after coaching the club's then-VFL affiliate the Casey Scorpions that season.

His departure comes after a number of changes to the Saints' football department in the wake of Lyon's departure at the end of the 2011 season.
