THE AFL wishes to congratulate Greater Western Sydney's Callan Ward ahead of his 300th AFL game this round.

The 2018 AFLPA's Most Courageous Player and club games record holder is set to become the 103rd person to reach 300 AFL/VFL career games.

Ward was drafted with Pick 19 in the 2007 National Draft by the Western Bulldogs and he made his debut in round 11 against St Kilda in 2008.

He played 60 games with the Western Bulldogs before signing with GWS as an un-contracted player ahead of its inaugural season in 2012. Ward was named one of the club's inaugural captains alongside Phil Davis and Luke Power.

The AFL's Historian has compiled a list of Callan Ward's career achievements:

Ward has played 157 games as captain, the Giants' record holder and one of 24 people to have captained a VFL/AFL club for 150 games.

He was born in April in 1990 and was the sixth player born in the AFL era to play AFL games.

Ward played in the Giants' first AFL game and kicked the club's first goal.

He won the 2012 club best and fairest and has had another five podium finishes (all at the Giants).

Ward was voted the AFLPA's Most Courageous Player in 2018 (Robert Rose Award).

He has been named in the All-Australian squad on three separate occasions (2014,'16, '18)

Ward was the first person to play 200 games for the Giants and has since been joined by Toby Greene, Lachie Whitfield, Stephen Coniglio, Josh Kelly and Nick Haynes.

He is set to become the third person to play game number 300 with GWS, joining Luke Power and Heath Shaw.

It will have taken 15 years and 338 days for him to reach 300 games, which would be the 86th quickest of the 103 people to reach the milestone.

Ward has kicked goals at 18 different venues –  the VFL/AFL record (shared by eight different players).

He is the only Giant to have played 50 consecutive games on multiple occasions: 95 in a row across 2015-18 and 52 in a row across 2021-23.

Ward has played in 18 games decided by at least 100 points, second only to Roger Merrett (21 games). Ward was on the losing side for the first 14 of those games, winning the most recent four.

Ward has played games alongside 173 teammates and had played at 100+ games with 15 of them.
