GOLD Coast midfielder David Swallow will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after aggravating his right posterior cruciate ligament during Saturday’s match against the Western Bulldogs in Cairns.

Swallow missed eight weeks earlier this season with the injury before returning a fortnight ago against North Melbourne.

The 2014 club champion will seek further specialist advice before determining the most appropriate way to treat the injury.

He joins fellow midfielders Jaeger O'Meara and Dion Prestia on the sidelines for the rest of the year.

Gold Coast general manager of football operations Marcus Ashcroft confirmed the injury on Tuesday.

"David aggravated his PCL during Saturday’s game and as a result he will miss the remainder of the season,” Ashcroft said.

"Our medical staff, David and specialists will discuss the options available to him in the coming days before determining the most appropriate way to rehabilitate the injury."
