JAKE LEVER'S ugly departure from Adelaide has taken another twist, with the Crows confirming the wantaway defender won't be attending its club champion function at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday night. understands Lever intended to fulfill his final commitment as a Crows player, but was advised by club officials that it wouldn't be a good idea.

The out-of-contract 21-year-old announced on Tuesday he would be seeking a trade to Melbourne during the NAB AFL Trade Period after accepting a lucrative four-year deal worth a reported $3.2 million with the Demons.

Crows football boss Brett Burton claimed Lever's decision was based heavily on financial reasons.

However, Lever insists he wants to return to Victoria to be closer to family and friends.

It follows reports that senior Crows players went to coach Don Pyke and wanted Lever left out of the side during the finals.

That came after Lever failed to pledge his future to the club, while fellow young gun Mitch McGovern agreed to a three-year extension on the eve of the finals.

Meanwhile, forward Charlie Cameron is expected to attend the club champion function despite requesting a trade to the Brisbane Lions.

Cameron is contracted to the Crows for 2018, but wants to return to Queensland for personal reasons.

The Crows have refused to comment on the Cameron situation but his manager, Colin Young, confirmed on NAB AFL Trade Radio on Friday that the forward was seeking a trade.
