The AFL Record has just celebrated its 100th birthday and this week’s Record marks the occasion with a special souvenir edition.

We look at how the Record has covered the game since that very first edition on April 27, 1912 and why it is an essential part of a fan's match-day experience.

The Record has not missed a beat in that time, surviving product and paper shortage during World War I and the Depression years, as well as the effects of World War II.

We take a trip down memory lane, displaying some of the old regulars of the Record including the ‘Girl of the Week’ and the Saturday race fields.

There is also a detailed explanation of how the Record is produced each week, which AFL identity has appeared most times on the cover and a pictorial collection of some of the best covers our design team has produced.
