HUNDREDS of Fremantle fans turned out at Perth Airport to farewell the Dockers as they flew to Melbourne on Thursday afternoon.

The players and coaches walked through a tunnel of purple-clad, screaming fans as they filed from the team bus to the departure lounge.

Perth Airport had security on hand to keep the crowd clear of the players.

The airport terminal also got into the Fremantle fever - airport sniffer dogs were wearing purple Dockers bandanas and the Dockers theme song was played over the PA system in the check-in area.

The Dockers held their final training session behind closed doors on Thursday morning at Fremantle Oval. Media were allowed access for 10 minutes of the warm-up before the gates were closed.

Luke McPharlin, Michael Johnson and Chris Mayne all trained and all were on the flight to Melbourne.

Mayne warmed up in a jacket to keep his troublesome back warm. Johnson was wearing a compression bandage on his right calf and warmed up in running shoes.

Skipper Matthew Pavlich spent some time practicing his goalkicking routine, without actually having a shot, before the main session started.
