THE AFL Commission will wait until its Grand Final week meeting to determine the levels of assistance to be granted to troubled Gold Coast.

Suns chairman Tony Cochrane and chief executive Mark Evans presented a business plan to the Commission in Melbourne on Tuesday, and requested a raft of immediate concessions.

The overall No.1 pick in the NAB AFL Draft was part of that list of requests. If successful with that pitch, the Suns would have picks one and two, and would almost certainly use them on Victorian young guns Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson, who are best mates.

It is believed the Suns also asked for salary cap scope to pitch for quality players as part of their submission.

Opposition clubs are rallying hard against the No.1 pick proposal.

Melbourne, which finished just one rung on the ladder ahead of the bottom-placed Suns in 2019 after reaching top-four last year, also fronted the Commission.

The AFL's executive panel will now be asked to consider the Suns' request for assistance in time to make a final determination at its September meeting.
